Qualifications

• Extensive life underwriting expertise with authority on complex cases and escalation guidance.
• Minimum 5 years of life underwriting experience with leadership experience.
• Working knowledge of automated underwriting platforms (RHO, PIA) and quality control management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management; ability to collaborate with reinsurers and vendors.
• Coaching underwriters to build digital fluency and adopt new tools and workflows.
• Commitment to ethical decision-making, regulatory compliance, and sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert judgment on highly complex cases, ensuring consistency with guidelines and mortality objectives; manage facultative referrals when appropriate.
• Oversee adjudication during peak volumes, ensuring accuracy and promoting analytics usage.
• Lead and develop a team of underwriters, set priorities, and ensure service-level adherence and quality.
• Use analytics dashboards to monitor mortality, placement, cycle time, and referral rates; drive improvements.
• Pilot and validate new underwriting technologies and vendor solutions with documented outcomes.
• Coach and upskill underwriters in analytics, digital tools, and customer-centric practices.
• Negotiate appeals with professional judgment and industry knowledge when deviating from guidelines.
