You will lead a team, oversee peak volumes, ensure consistency with mortality objectives, and communicate decisions with field and home office partners.

Qualifications

• Extensive life underwriting expertise with authority on complex cases.
• Minimum 5 years of life underwriting experience, with leadership experience.
• Experience with automated underwriting platforms (RHO, PIA) and quality control.
• Strong communication and stakeholder mgmt; collaborate with reinsurers/vendors.
• Fosters collaborative culture while coaching underwriters in digital fluency and new tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert judgment on highly complex and escalated cases with adherence to guidelines and mortality objectives.
• Oversee complex case adjudication during peak volumes with analytics-driven improvements.
• Lead and develop a team of underwriters, set priorities, ensure SLA adherence and quality.
• Use analytics dashboards to monitor mortality, placement, cycle time, and referrals; drive improvements.
• Pilot and validate new underwriting technologies and vendor solutions; document cases and outcomes.
• Coach and upskill underwriters in analytics, digital tools, and customer-centric practices.
• Negotiate appeals using professional judgment and industry knowledge to deviate from guidelines when warranted for decisions.
