Job summary

Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School in Washougal, WA is seeking a paraeducator for Life Skills to support certificated teachers with small groups and individual students. The role includes reading support, math groups, and daily living skills instruction, with a focus on helping students meet IEP goals.

Position is 6.5 hours per day on regular days (and Wednesdays), plus 4 hours for conference/last days, 180 student attendance days, with a start time of 7:45 am and end at 2:45 pm. Probation 60 days.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and be able to support students in small groups.
• Experience assisting in special education or reading instruction is a plus.
• Ability to follow teacher direction and implement IEP objectives.

Responsibilities

• Administers assessments (e.g. reading fluency, DIBELS) to monitor student progress.
• Assists students individually or in small groups with lessons and reading activities.
• Instructs students in math groups, reading, writing, and daily living skills as needed.
• Maintains attendance, records, and classroom materials for reliable information.
• Monitors student behavior and enforces school rules to provide a safe learning environment.
