Job summary

Sierra Donor Services is seeking a dedicated Family Care Coordinator to guide organ and tissue donor families through the donation process in a hospital setting in the Sacramento area. You will collaborate with hospital staff, physicians, and SDS team members to provide compassionate, clear information and support during difficult conversations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years healthcare experience with families, counseling, bereavement, and/or crisis intervention.
• Knowledge of medical and legal principles of authorization, donor evaluation, and management.
• Exceptional teamwork, communication, and conflict management skills.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Determines family dynamics and assesses understanding of prognosis to initiate donation discussions.
• Initiates donation discussion and authorization for organ and tissue donor families.
• Responds to hospital referrals within policy and procedure timings.
• Communicates with attending physicians to ensure collaborative donation discussions and authorization.
