Job summary

AmeriLife is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support medical and loan underwriting teams for life insurance policies and ongoing servicing. You will gather requirements, review for completeness, and submit to carriers and lenders.

You will track exams and APS requests, update Salesforce Chatter, and work with carriers to issue policies while maintaining underwriting files and correspondence. This role emphasizes accuracy, timeliness, and client service.

Qualifications

• Life insurance underwriting experience in the policy life cycle.
• Ability to process work accurately while meeting productivity, quality, and timeliness standards.
• Proficiency with data entry and policy administration applications.
• Maintain underwriting files and prepare correspondence for applications, policies, and endorsements.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and customer service.
• Minimum of three years of life insurance underwriting support in an agency or carrier environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Salesforce and SharePoint preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the case manager in completing carrier applications and follow up efforts.
• Monitor each case through underwriting and escalate issues to the Case Manager when needed.
• Work with carriers to issue policies.
• Download application kits and populate information for Case Manager review.
• Draft informal and formal cover letters for Case Manager review.
• Assist clients with routine policy service requests throughout the year.
• Annually review each client’s policy and loan and communicate requirements to the client.
• Assist with annual requirements to support timely policy funding.
• Maintain organized underwriting files and enter case information in Salesforce.
• Provide administrative and project support to the Case Manager and underwriting teams.
