Job summary

Sun Life U.S. is seeking a Life Benefit Case Manager I to conduct reviews, investigations and liability assessments for Group Life Insurance claims. This role handles more complex claims, including high-dollar calculations and accidental death investigations, under supervision.

You will communicate with beneficiaries and benefit administrators, adjudicate according to policy and regulations, and mentor junior staff while maintaining high accuracy and quality standards in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of claims experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicates professionally and compassionately with beneficiaries, employers and benefit administrators to gather data for eligibility analysis.
• Adjudicates claims accurately and fairly per policy and procedures and applicable regulations.
• Calculates complex benefit payments, including interest where applicable, with accuracy.
• Meets quality, productivity and customer service standards for claim reviews and decisions.
• Mentors and assists with training of less experienced employees.
