Job summary

BHC Alhambra Hospital in Rosemead, California, is a private, 115-bed acute psychiatric facility offering inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults.

The LVN works under an RN on the night shift (11:00 pm–7:30 am), performing psychiatric nursing duties, collecting data, recording vitals, monitoring progress toward the treatment plan, and communicating changes to the Charge Nurse.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited vocational school of nursing or psychiatric technician program.
• Experience in psychiatric nursing is preferred, especially with children and adolescents.
• Licensed to practice vocational nursing in the state.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect data for the integrated assessment portion.
• Take and record vital signs properly.
• Observe and document changes in patient appearance, behavior, and treatment plan progress.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the Charge Nurse.
• Report signs of infection to the Charge Nurse.

BHC Alhambra Hospital is a private, fully accredited, full-service acute psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescents and adults. BHC Alhambra is dedicated to providing quality behavioral health, substance abuse, and eating disorder treatment. We offer inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient options for individuals in the communities of the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County, and surrounding areas.

NOC: 11:00 pm-7:30 am

Job Description: The LVN performs under the direction of a Registered Nurse in providing nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing basic understanding of psychiatric and personality disorders.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately collect data needed for the appropriate portion of the integrated assessment.


• Take and record vital signs properly.


• Observe for, and document changes in patient’s appearance, behavior and ability to work toward treatment plan goals.


• Communicate changes in patient’s condition to the Charge Nurse.


• Report signs and symptoms of infection in resident to the Charge Nurse

Qualifications

Requirements

Education: Graduate from an accredited professional vocational school of nursing or vocational training as a psychiatric technician, preferably with education in Child and Adolescent Development.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year LVN in psychiatric nursing preferred, with six (6) months experience in the specialized area of Child and Adolescent Development preferred.

Licensure: Licensed to practice vocational nursing from the State Board of Nursing or Psychiatric Technicians.
