BHC Alhambra Hospital in Rosemead, California is seeking a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) to provide psychiatric nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The NOC shift runs 11:00 pm to 7:30 am.

The LVN will collect data, record vital signs, monitor changes, and communicate with the Charge Nurse. Must be a graduate of an accredited LVN program with California licensure; one year of psychiatric experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate from an accredited vocational school of nursing or psychiatric technician training.
• Experience: 1+ year LVN in psychiatric nursing preferred; 6 months in Child and Adolescent Development preferred.
• Licensure: Licensed Vocational Nurse in California.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect data needed for the integrated assessment.
• Take and record vital signs properly.
• Observe for and document changes in patient’s appearance, behavior and progress toward treatment goals.
• Communicate changes in patient’s condition to the Charge Nurse.
• Report signs and symptoms of infection to the Charge Nurse.

Job Description: The LVN performs under the direction of a Registered Nurse in providing nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing basic understanding of psychiatric and personality disorders.

Requirements

Education: Graduate from an accredited professional vocational school of nursing or vocational training as a psychiatric technician, preferably with education in Child and Adolescent Development.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year LVN in psychiatric nursing preferred, with six (6) months experience in the specialized area of Child and Adolescent Development preferred.

Licensure: Licensed to practice vocational nursing from the State Board of Nursing or Psychiatric Technicians.
