Job summary

Huntsville Hospital HomeCare, part of the Optum family, is hiring a Full Time Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to treat patients in their homes. You will perform treatment and provide exercise instruction and education per the plan of care, within a supportive team and community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of Alabama.
• Current driver’s license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
• Preferred: CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
• Preferred: ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.

Responsibilities

• Follow state laws governing home physical therapy and follow the treatment plan defined by the supervising PT.
• Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, gait, functional activities of daily living (ADL), transfers, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observes, records, and reports patient responses to treatment to the supervising PT and care team; coordinates care with other healthcare professionals.
• Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and other health-care team members in therapy within the PTA scope.
• Function in any home setting regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client.
