Job summary

Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph in Wichita, KS seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (Med Surg) for daytime, full‑time schedules. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

The role delivers bedside care, ongoing patient assessment, medication administration, and discharge planning within a collaborative team. The position requires Kansas LPN licensure, BLS, and a high school equivalency or related experience; IV certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS Certification required within 1 month of hire.
• Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Note: Licensure can be used in lieu of education or experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive bedside care within the appropriate scope of practice.
• Contribute to ongoing assessment of patient status and report findings promptly to the RN or Physician.
• Administer medications and maintain documentation.
• Perform essential laboratory tests and diagnostic tasks as ordered.
• Assist in discharge planning and patient/family education.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
