Job summary

Eastern Iowa Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for night shifts in our rehabilitation unit. The role emphasizes safe medication administration, patient assessments, and collaboration with the RN to deliver high-quality care.

This full-time position includes a $10,000 commitment bonus over two years and focuses on improving outcomes for patients recovering from neurological and orthopedic injuries.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN program
• Current state LPN/LVN license
• CPR/BLS Certification
• ACLS and PALS within six months of hire
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Dependent Adult and Child

Responsibilities

• Administer medications safely, accurately, and based on patient age and clinical condition.
• Assist the RN with initial assessments and patient reassessments per policy.
• Identify and implement appropriate rehabilitation nursing interventions.
• Perform timely and accurate Quality Improvement (QI) assessments under RN supervision.
• Deliver care based on patient response to treatment and update the interdisciplinary plan accordingly.
• Assess and reassess pain; use appropriate pain management techniques and educate patients and families.
• Perform all patient care tasks in a manner that promotes patient safety and reduces medical errors.
• Develop and implement individualized teaching plans based on patient and family learning needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

How you'll contribute

What we're looking for

Applicants should be graduates of an accredited Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program and have a current state LPN/LVN license. Additional requirements include:

• CPR/BLS Certification

• ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire

• Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Dependent Adult and Child

• Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six (6) months of Medical/Surgical experience
