Job summary

Southridge Behavioral Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our new state-of-the-art facility. The LPN will deliver direct patient care under RN supervision, support a safe therapeutic milieu, and assist with admissions and medication administration.

Current Michigan LPN license required; prior psychiatric experience preferred. This part-time day shift offers opportunities for growth within UHS and our education programs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory and practice, with prior psychiatric experience desired.
• Demonstrated clinical competency in providing general nursing care.
• Current LPN licensure in the State of Michigan required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care according to nursing care plans and the patient’s treatment plan.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu with other staff.
• Assist with behavior management, crisis control, seclusion and restraint under the RN.
• Partner with RN on patient admissions and discharges.
• Administer medications and treatments; document administration per policies.

Description

Licensed Practical Nurses LPN carry out the daily routines of patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and House Supervisor:

• Provides direct patient care according to nursing care plans and the patient’s treatment plan.
• Participates with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
• Assists with behavior management, crisis control, seclusion and restraint, under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Partners with RN with patient admissions and discharges.
• Administers medication and treatments to patients. Assists with medication education, informed consent and monitoring the effectiveness and efficacy of medications. Documents the administration of medications and treatments according to policies and procedures.

Hours and Location:

Part Time Day Shift. 2 12-hour shifts, 7am-7:30pm. Every other weekend rotation. Night Shift is 7pm to 7:30am.
