Job summary

Southridge Behavioral Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for full-time day shifts. Eligible for a $4,000 sign-on bonus and student loan repayment.

You will administer medications, support admissions/discharges, and collaborate with RNs to provide evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s needs. Qualifications include graduation from an accredited practical nursing program and Michigan LPN licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Current LPN license in Michigan.
• Psychiatric nursing theory knowledge and practice preferred.
• Demonstrated clinical competency in providing general nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care according to nursing care plans and the patient’s treatment plan.
• Participates with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
• Assists with behavior management, crisis control, seclusion and restraint, under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Partners with RN with patient admissions and discharges.
• Administers medication and treatments to patients. Assists with medication education, informed consent and monitoring the effectiveness and efficacy of medications. Documents the administration of medications and treatments according to policies and procedures.

Description

Licensed Practical Nurses LPN carry out the daily routines of patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and House Supervisor:

• Provides direct patient care according to nursing care plans and the patient’s treatment plan.
• Participates with other personnel in maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu.
• Assists with behavior management, crisis control, seclusion and restraint, under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Partners with RN with patient admissions and discharges.

Hours and Location

Full Time Day Shift. 3 12-hour shifts, 7am-7:30pm. Every other weekend rotation.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory, and practice, with previous psychiatric clinical experience desired.
• Demonstrated clinical competency in providing general nursing care.
• Current LPN Licensure in the State of Michigan Required.
