Job summary

Meadowview Behavioral Hospital is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our close-knit psychiatry team in Peoria, IL. You will provide nursing care under the direction of RNs, document patient status, administer medications, and support treatment programs with compassionate, evidence-based care.

The ideal candidate has an LPN diploma, valid state license, CPR certification, CPI training, and at least 1 year of psychiatry experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited vocational nursing program.
• Minimum 1 year of LPN experience in psychiatric nursing preferred.
• Licensed to practice nursing by the State Board of Nursing.
• Must pass medication administration exam; CPR and CPI training within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Document patient information and changes in patient condition.
• Alert RN to changes needing reassessment.
• Administer medications to patients.
• Use CPI techniques for safety in psychiatric and medical emergencies.
• Orient patients to treatment programs and monitor participation.

Your Experience Matters

What we’re looking for:

• Education: Graduate from an accredited professional vocational school of nursing or vocational training as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Experience: Minimum one (1) year as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in psychiatric nursing preferred, with six (6) months of experience in the specialized area of psychiatry also preferred but not required.
• Licensure: Licensed to practice vocational/practical nursing from the State Board of Nursing.
• Additional Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. CPR certification and successful completion of Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), including restraint and seclusion policies, within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.

Compensation:

We are seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Compensation ranges from $33.00 to $38.00 per hour, depending on employment status, experience, qualifications, and skill level. Shift differentials are available for applicable shifts.
