Job summary

Wellpath/Correct Care Solutions is seeking an Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Friday day shift at Peoria County Jail. The role involves providing nursing care under RN supervision, administering medications, and contributing to patient education and care plans.

The position offers a Monday through Friday Friday shift, with compensation of $33.40–$37.11 per hour, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PTO, and 401k.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum one year clinic experience preferred.
  • Current LPN licensure in the state of employment and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Under RN supervision, assess patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions and contribute to treatment planning.
  • Administer medications, including IV therapy (if certified), and perform diagnostic tests per protocol.
  • Collaborate in controlled substance counts and respond to codes or health emergencies.
  • Assist in medical or minor surgical procedures and document nursing encounters using SOAP charting.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and training to maintain high-quality patient care.

How you make a difference

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Working under the supervision of RN(s), the LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities that align with their education and demonstrated competencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under RN supervision, assesses patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as needed.
  • Implements treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications, including IV therapy (if certified), and performing diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines.
  • Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high-quality patient care.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience
  • Prefer a minimum of one (1) year clinic experience
Licenses/Certifications
  • Have and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse within the state of employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.

We are looking for an LPN to join our clinical team at Peoria County Jail. This position works every Friday, 5:30a-6p.
