Job summary

Perimeter Healthcare is recruiting a Licensed Practical Nurse to perform selected nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse and the Director of Nursing for patients admitted to the facility.

The role requires an active LPN license, a high school diploma, and a PN diploma, with at least one year of experience in a mental health setting. BLS and Handle with Care training must be completed within 1 week of employment.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma and a practical nursing diploma.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a mental health setting; psychiatric inpatient experience preferred.
• Active and unrestricted Practical Nurse license in the relevant state.
• Successful completion of BLS and Handle with Care within 1 week of employment.

Job description

Position Summary:

To perform selected nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse and general supervision of the Director of Nursing to patients admitted to the facility.

Qualifications:

Education: Must have graduated with High School Degree and have successfully graduated from a technical or vocational training diploma in Practical Nursing.

Experience: Minimum of one-year experience in a mental health related setting. Psychiatric inpatient facility experience is preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain an active and unrestricted practical nurse license within the designated state.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of BLS and Handle with Care training within 1 week of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.

Standards of Performance:

1. Provides skilled nursing care to patients as directed by the registered nurse and physician’s plan of care in accordance with hospital policy.
2. Promotes and maintains patient health through teaching and appropriate rehabilitative measures under the guidance of the registered nurse.
3. Dispenses medication under the direction of the registered nurse and according to physician orders.
4. Assists patients in learning appropriate self-care techniques.
5. Helps to achieve and maintain continuity of patient care by assisting in planning and exchanging information with other health professionals.
6. Keeps abreast of changes and trends affecting nursing care and licensed nurse functions.
7. Attends patient care conferences, meets with performance improvement reviewer weekly and communicates regularly with the registered nurse.
8. Communicates current health status and needs of patients to appropriate health professionals.
9. Organize and coordinate special programs
10. Stays abreast of Federal, State, and local laws and regulations complying with infection control and employee health standards
11. Active participant in nursing performance improvement program
12. Advises Director of Nursing/Administrator of any risk management activities in order to reduce or eliminate patient/staff/visitor injuries, illnesses, death, and/or financial loss.
13. Ensure security and proper handling of classified information.
