Job summary

Jobtailor in Minnesota is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide professional nursing care for residents in long-term care under supervision. You will apply nursing principles and care plans tailored to age and population, and perform testing to evaluate resident status.

You will recognize problems, respond in emergencies, administer medications as ordered, document interactions, and work as part of an interdisciplinary team while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • 3 months experience in Long Term Care required (6 months preferred).
  • Minimum of 30 hours per month.
  • One weekend shift per month.
  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as an LPN.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Pre-licensure nursing program with supervised clinical experience across the life span, or minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility.
  • Currently holds an unencumbered LPN license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges
  • Maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
  • Complete required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements
  • If position requires IV therapy/management skills in North Dakota: graduation from a Board-approved AASPN program including IV therapy or completion of an approved IV Therapy course

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to resident assessments and administer ordered medications or treatments
  • Provide technical support to healthcare professionals
  • Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary needs
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public
  • Work as a member of an interdisciplinary care team
  • Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Counsel residents, family members, and/or resident advocates under clinical direction on prevention and treatment plans
  • Develop resident self-care programs using resident education principles
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
