Job summary

Construction Material Testing in Madison, WI seeks seller-doer engineers who combine business development with technical leadership. You’ll build and manage client relationships, price and write proposals, and seal geotechnical reports as engineer of record.

You will travel to client sites as needed and coordinate with our Sugar Land lab staff. This role rewards revenue you bring in with a share of the earnings through a written offer.

Qualifications

• Active PE license in civil, geotechnical, or structural engineering.
• 6+ years in construction materials testing or geotechnical engineering with client-facing responsibility.
• Proven track record in bringing in work or a credible plan to do so.
• Comfortable pricing, negotiating, and saying no to a bad contract.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients including general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on projects you win: review data, seal reports and letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events.
