Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks licensed Professional Engineers who can sell and perform geotechnical and materials testing work. You will bring in business and also perform engineering duties, reviewing data and sealing reports.

The company shoulders the lab, field staff, and quality system; you bring relationships and your stamp. Your weekly mix will include selling to general contractors and design firms, pricing and writing proposals, and leading project teams on site.

Qualifications

• Active PE license in the posting state, or ability to obtain by comity within 90 days.
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
• Record of bringing in work or a credible plan to generate it in the market.
• Comfortable pricing, negotiating, and saying no to a bad contract.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients—general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms—for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on the projects you win: review field and laboratory data, seal reports and letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors on your projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market.
