Job summary

Visionworks in New York is seeking a part-time Optical Associate to assist customers with frame and lens selection and to dispense eyewear. The role requires interpreting prescriptions and providing insurance guidance while maintaining privacy and HIPAA compliance.

You will use the SERVE sales process, ensure correct pricing, and uphold sanitation and equipment cleanliness in a busy retail setting.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Knowledge of optical products and prescription interpretation.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
• Must be able to perform tasks with accuracy and attention to HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with frame and lens selection while following social distancing.
• Explain optical products and services and interpret prescriptions.
• Provide insurance benefits information and disclose any extra charges.
• Use SERVE sales process to determine lens recommendations.
• Maintain dispensing area and ensure accurate customer pricing.
