Job summary

VisionWorks in New York seeks an Optician to assist customers with frame and lens selection, interpret prescriptions, and dispense eyewear in a compliant retail setting.

The role requires state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing, strong product knowledge, and excellent customer service. Face-to-face customer interactions, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork are essential in this onsite position.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Knowledge and demonstrated abilities in explaining optical products, services, the analysis and interpretation of optical prescriptions, fitting and dispensing.

Responsibilities

• Assist each customer in frame and lens selection meeting social distance requirements.
• Ensure compliance with social distancing, cleaning protocols and hygiene practices.
• Provide customers with accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections and other services.
• Provide customers covered by Third Party insurance with accurate information regarding benefits to ensure proper selection of frames and lenses.
• Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and establish proper lens recommendations.
• Analyze and interpret patients' prescriptions and communicate with the Lab and Optometrist to ensure accuracy of prescription.
• Sell, fit and dispense frames and accessories with accurate measurements and verifications.
• Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
• Responsible for accuracy of customer pricing for the retail customer.
• Maintain license requirements per State Guidelines.
• Provide feedback and guidance to Apprentice Opticians.
• Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
• Participate in training and educational activities to meet departmental goals and maintain affiliations.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and workstations.
• Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
