Job summary

Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) seeks a part-time Personal Counselor to assist students with short-term counseling and referrals, supporting academic success and equity on the Arnold/Main Campus.

The role provides face-to-face and virtual services, collaborates with county agencies, and delivers psycho-educational programs for staff and faculty to enhance retention and completion for all students.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required.
• Licensed by the Maryland Department of Health and Hygiene.
• Minimum 2 years experience with crisis management.
• Working knowledge of mental health issues, counseling theories, and student development theories.
• Excellent oral/written/communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft and master student information systems technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide short-term counseling and referral services for students.
• Assess safety to self and others; document sessions.
• Deliver crisis intervention and coordinate appropriate referrals.
• Outreach and support to faculty/staff; develop psycho-educational workshops.
• Facilitate wellness/workshops and liaison with other departments.
• Maintain records and coordinate with county services for referrals.
