Job summary

Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center is seeking a Counselor I to serve as the primary counselor, case manager, and group facilitator for patients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practices, multidisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to individualized interventions to support patient recovery and success. The position requires an AA/AS in behavioral health, 1 year of relevant experience, and Maryland ADT/BLS credentials.

Qualifications

• AA/AS degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in behavioral health.
• One year of work experience in behavioral health care including individual and/or group counseling for substance use disorders.
• Current approval as an Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and counseling to individuals and groups along with integrated case management.
• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments.
• Collaborate on treatment planning and discharge planning with appropriate level of care.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and/or therapeutic groups as assigned.
• Maintain chart documentation per Joint Commission, COMAR, and Pathways requirements.
• Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team and provide back-up support as needed.
