Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Licensed Electrical Journeyman to provide skilled craftsmanship for the maintenance and installation of electrical systems in a dynamic construction environment.

You will assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring and equipment, read plans, and ensure safety standards. This role requires strong teamwork, safety focus, and ability to handle high voltages across multiple site locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum two years of related experience.
• Trade or technical school certification/diploma.
• Apprentice aptitude test.
• Union specific training.
• Project specific/Mortenson training.
• Current driver's license.
• Ability to speak and understand English (Spanish is a plus); some ability to read plans; shown emotional intelligence; ability to operate equipment such as table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging, and form systems
• Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, active listening skills, and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• Lifting, carrying, pushing: up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical equipment and fixtures.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Test electrical systems and circuits for safety and compatibility.
• Repair and maintain motors, transformers, and other electrical equipment.
• Study plans and work orders to determine requirements and sequence.
• Maintain high voltage systems.
• Organize work by reviewing orders and gathering tools.
• Read prints and lay out new service installations.
• Repair electrical problems by replacing faulty parts.
• Perform preventive maintenance and system testing.
• Keep supplies stocked and ready.
• Maintain safe work environment per codes and standards.
• Update knowledge through education and publications.
• Contribute to team goals and assist as needed.
• Collaborate with diverse colleagues and stakeholders.
• All other duties as assigned.
