Job summary

Navitex | USA Freight Forwarding Recruitment Specialists seeks a hands-on Licensed Customs Broker to manage U.S. import clearances for air and ocean shipments. You will independently prepare and transmit entries, review classifications, and ensure compliance while coordinating with customers and internal teams.

The role begins onsite with the potential to transition to remote work. A monthly performance bonus is offered, and the company will support and fund obtaining a U.S.

Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Customs Broker License, OR significant customs entry writing experience with the ambition to obtain an LCB
  • 5+ years of experience across customs brokerage, air/ocean imports, and customs clearances preferred
  • Proven ability to independently prepare and process customs entries
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import compliance, and import documentation
  • Experience working within a fast-paced freight forwarding or customs brokerage environment

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare, review, and transmit U.S. customs entries
  • Manage customs clearances across international air and ocean import shipments
  • Review classifications, import documentation, and customer requirements to ensure compliance
  • Monitor shipments throughout the clearance process and proactively resolve customs-related issues
  • Coordinate with customers, carriers, overseas agents, operations, and sales teams
  • Maintain customer-specific brokerage profiles, shipping requirements, and compliance procedures
  • Ensure duties, freight charges, billing, and associated shipment costs are processed accurately and on time
  • Support onboarding of new brokerage customers and help establish customs and compliance requirements
  • Provide customs and trade compliance guidance to customers and internal teams
  • Maintain accurate audit and post-entry records and support corrective actions where required
  • Stay current with changes to U.S. import regulations and customs requirements
  • Support customer meetings and business reviews when required

About the Company

We are representing an established international freight forwarding and logistics provider with a strong global network and comprehensive customs brokerage capabilities.

The business is looking to strengthen its U.S. customs operation with an experienced customs professional who can combine hands-on entry processing with strong customer service and technical customs expertise.

About the Role

This is a hands-on customs brokerage position responsible for managing import clearances across both air and ocean freight.

You will independently prepare and process customs entries, coordinate with customers and internal operations teams, and ensure shipments are cleared accurately, compliantly, and on time.

The company is open to an existing Licensed Customs Broker, but will also consider an experienced Senior Entry Writer who is ready to take the next step in their career. For the right individual, the business is prepared to support and pay for obtaining their U.S. Customs Broker License.

The position will initially be onsite, allowing you to become established within the team and operation, with the opportunity to transition to remote working once fully integrated.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import compliance, and import documentation

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple customer accounts and shipment priorities
  • CargoWise experience is highly desirable
