Job description

Licensed Customs Broker | Houston, Texas | Salary up to $115,000

To oversee and manage U.S. customs clearance operations for import shipments across multiple industries. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, supervising brokerage processes, supporting client relationships, and helping drive operational efficiency within a fast-paced logistics environment.

The candidate will possess a valid U.S. Customs Broker License, strong regulatory knowledge, and experience working within an international freight forwarding or customs brokerage operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee customs clearance activities for air, ocean, and ground import shipments
  • Ensure full compliance with CBP regulations, FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, and other Partner Government Agencies (PGAs)
  • Review and approve entry documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, HTS classifications, valuation, and country of origin declarations
  • Serve as the company’s designated Licensed Customs Broker and maintain compliance standards
  • Provide guidance and support to import specialists, entry writers, and operations personnel
  • Communicate directly with CBP officials, clients, carriers, and government agencies regarding shipment releases, exams, and compliance matters
  • Conduct internal audits and compliance reviews to minimize risk exposure and penalties
  • Research tariff classifications, trade agreements, and duty‑saving opportunities for clients
  • Assist clients with import compliance consulting and regulatory inquiries
  • Monitor changing customs regulations and implement process improvements as needed
  • Support business development efforts by providing brokerage expertise during client meetings and proposals
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with CBP regulations and company SOPs
Qualifications
  • Active U.S. Customs Broker License issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection
  • 5+ years of customs brokerage experience within a freight forwarding, logistics, or customs brokerage environment
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, valuation, and PGA requirements
  • Experience using customs brokerage software and ACE systems
  • Strong understanding of air freight, ocean freight, and international trade operations
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
