About the Company
Altius Talent is partnering with a well-established international freight forwarder to recruit a Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) to lead its Customs Brokerage operation in Miami.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Customs professional looking to step into a leadership position, overseeing a small team while remaining actively involved in customs brokerage operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance, maintaining excellent client service, and driving operational efficiency within a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Customs Brokerage department.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of 2 Customs Entry Writers.
- Ensure all customs entries are processed accurately and in compliance with CBP regulations.
- Maintain and utilise your Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) qualification to support brokerage operations.
- Review and approve customs entries where required.
- Provide guidance on tariff classification, valuation, duty calculation, and country of origin.
- Ensure compliance with all CBP regulations and Partner Government Agencies (FDA, USDA, EPA, FCC, CPSC, etc.).
- Handle complex customs issues, audits, post-entry amendments, protests, and compliance matters.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, customs officials, and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Support process improvements and best practices within the department.
- Work closely with Air, Ocean and Warehousing teams to ensure smooth shipment flow.
- Utilise CargoWise One to manage customs entries and operational workflows.
Requirements
- Active U.S. Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) – essential.
- 5+ years of Customs Brokerage experience.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience managing a customs team.
- Strong knowledge of:
- CBP regulations
- HTS Classification
- Duty Drawback
- PGA requirements
- Customs valuation
- Post-entry processes
- Experience using CargoWise One is essential.
- Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, EPA, FCC, TSCA, Lacey Act, CPSC and other PGA requirements.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced freight forwarding environment.
