Job summary

The Center for Alcohol & Drug Treatment in Duluth, MN is seeking a qualified counselor to provide substance use disorder services under indirect supervision within a paraprofessional environment. You will work under clinical supervision to deliver counseling, treatment planning, and coordination with a multidisciplinary team.

This role requires an LADC (or ADC-T permit) or an exemption, plus documented screening competency and CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• Must be a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or possess a temporary ADC-T permit, or be exempt under MN Statutes 148F.
• Competence in screening for mental health issues documented via a 12-hour education program and practical experience.
• CPR and First Aid certification or obtain it before direct patient contact.
• Must pass background studies by the Minnesota DHS.

Responsibilities

• Provide substance use disorder counseling services across individual, group, and family settings.
• Follow CADT policies, procedures, and professional responsibilities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with referral sources and community agencies.
• Diagnose substance use disorders.
• Meet families to identify service needs and referrals.
• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and supervision.
• Maintain records per policy and licensing regulations.
• Contribute as an active member of the treatment team.
• Pursue ongoing professional development in substance use disorder treatment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
