Job summary

Winfield Public Library is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Technical Services & Circulation Assistant to join our team. This position combines behind-the-scenes work with helping patrons at the service desk.

The role supports cataloging, processing materials, and providing friendly service at the circulation desk while assisting with basic reference questions and opening/closing procedures. Starting wage is $18.00 per hour, 20 hours per week, with a regular Monday/Tuesday/Thursday schedule

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• The ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Technical Services: Order books, audiovisual materials, and other library materials.
• Process new and replacement materials for circulation.
• Copy catalog and update MARC records.
• Import catalog records and update OCLC holdings.
• Repair and cover books and audiovisual materials.
• Maintain Technical Services supplies and procedures.
• Track and report repair statistics.
• Perform accurate data entry and catalog maintenance.
• Provide friendly, helpful service at the circulation desk and throughout the library.
• Check materials in and out and assist patrons with basic circulation needs.
• Help patrons with the library catalog, computers, databases, and other electronic resources.
• Assist with basic reference and readers’ advisory questions.
• Monitor activity in the library and report concerns when appropriate.
• Operate and assist patrons with library equipment following training.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as assigned.
• Attend training and professional development opportunities.
