Job summary

Pima County's Sam Lena-South Tucson Library seeks a part-time Library Technical Assistant to deliver friendly customer service, assist patrons with library technology, and support daily library operations. You will report to multiple library locations and work with IT staff to troubleshoot devices and software.

The role emphasizes assisting users with catalogs, eBooks, self-service options, and digital downloads while maintaining accurate accounts and adhering to policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum one (1) year experience working in a library setting.
• Minimum one (1) year experience in customer service.
• Bilingual English/Spanish (speaking, reading, writing).
• Minimum two (2) years experience with technology (email, eBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, personal electronic devices such as tablets, cell phones, e-readers, library website, Google forms or docs).
• Experience using an integrated library system (ILS), such as Sierra, Polaris, SirsiDynix, Millenium, Alma, Symphony, Horizon, Carl, and/or Apollo.
• Experience using a cash register and handling money.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service by working directly with the public, answering calls, and assisting with policies and procedures; offers technical assistance with library equipment and software.
• Assists the public in using catalog, databases, online accounts, digital downloads and self-service technologies.
• Troubleshoots and maintains library computers with IT staff to resolve issues at division level.
• Assists library users with personal devices and technology including web platforms, operating systems, software and apps.
• Checks items in/out, issues library cards, collects fines, processes deposits, bills accounts and handles renewals.
• Supports diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and communicates effectively in writing and speech.
• Adheres to laws governing confidential information and demonstrates problem solving and de-escalation to meet patron needs.
