Job summary

BRCC seeks a Library Services Assistant to support daily library operations across BRCC sites in Baton Rouge. The role includes circulation, user assistance, and basic tech support, with regular evening or morning shifts and occasional extended hours during finals.

The ideal candidate holds an associate degree or higher, with at least one year in libraries or customer service, strong English communication, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in library/educational setting or related customer service experience.
• One year of library, educational, or customer service experience (or combined).
• Willingness to learn new processes and adapt in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily library operations, including circulation, check-ins/outs, and staff support.
• Assist patrons with public access tech, databases, and library resources.
• Train and supervise student workers; help with at other BRCC sites as needed.
• Open/close the library and cover evening or morning shifts; report issues.
