Job summary

Baton Rouge Community College is seeking a part-time Library Services Assistant to support circulation, information services, and technology help at BRCC libraries in Baton Rouge, LA. This role includes evening/morning shifts and occasional travel to BRCC sites to deliver library resources.

Qualifications include an associate degree or higher and one year of library or customer service experience. Proficiency with computers, MS Office, and library systems is expected.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated computer and software proficiency; comfortable with common apps.
• Willingness to learn new processes in a dynamic environment.
• Must be able to switch shifts to meet operational needs.
• Able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
• Physical ability to move books and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily library operations, assisting the public with the integrated online catalog (check-ins/outs) and promoting good customer relations.
• Assist patrons with public access technology and devices (computer/tablet/printer) and basic software use.
• Support patron use of online resources, LibGuides, and databases.
• Communicate with patrons via email, phone, and chat; assist in person and online with questions; help locate resources on campus.
• Work scheduled evenings or mornings; open/close the library; travel to BRCC sites as needed.
• Participate in hiring, training, and supervising student workers; monitor building activity and report issues.
• Track patron questions to ensure continuity of services for annual reports.
