Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking a Security Manager to oversee the public safety and security functions across City facilities, including the Austin Public Library. You will develop security policies, train staff, and coordinate with law enforcement to protect people and property.

Responsibilities include risk assessments, incident investigations, emergency planning, and budgeting for security operations, with a focus on compliance with laws and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 7 years of security experience; 2 years in a lead role; experience may substitute for education.
• Experience administering DHS/OEM security provisions and related regulations.
• Valid Class C Driver License within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise security staff, including training, evaluation and disciplinary actions.
• Develop and enforce security standards, policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, EMS and other agencies.
• Oversee budgeting and forecasting for security operations and CIP work.
• Prepare reports on investigations, losses, or violations.
