Job summary

City of Austin seeks a Library Manager to oversee daily operations of a branch or work unit within the Austin Public Library system. The role includes budgeting, program oversight, outreach, and policy input to align with City priorities. Travel among library locations and committee work are involved.

You will supervise staff, drive excellent customer service, and ensure facility maintenance and security. A degree with supervisory experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus five years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree plus three years, with two in a lead role.
• Knowledge of library procedures, systems, and techniques and staff supervision.
• Ability to provide high-level customer service and work with diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and evaluates plans for a library branch.
• Oversees budgets, grants, expenditures, and cash handling.
• Directs outreach programs and coordinates services across locations.
• Represents the City of Austin and the library to the public.
• Ensures high quality customer service and staff training.
