Job summary

The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Library Security Compliance Officer for the Worcester Public Library. Under the direction of the Manager of Community Resources, this role involves safety and security of the Main Library, branch and grounds used by staff, patrons, and visitors.

The successful candidate will patrol and secure assigned premises, identify risks to staff and patrons, and bring strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

Qualifications

• Familiarity with issues related to poverty, food insecurity, homelessness, substance abuse and mental health disorders.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and secure the Main Library, branches, and grounds.
• Identify risks to staff and patrons and respond appropriately.
• Assist with safety and security operations during night and weekend shifts.
• Prepare clear, concise reports on incidents and observations.
• Maintain calm, professional conduct and de-escalate conflicts when needed.
