Job summary

The Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library is seeking a Public Safety Specialist to ensure a safe, welcoming environment. You will engage with patrons and staff, de-escalate conflicts, and respond to emergencies while maintaining detailed incident reports.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Driver's license and insurability per library policy.
• Two or more years of relevant security experience required.

Responsibilities

• Builds positive relationships with customers and staff at assigned locations.
• De-escalate incidents; escort customers from premises if necessary.
• Responds to emergencies and unusual incidents; supports staff during crises.
• Prepare well-written, accurate incident and activity reports.
• Conduct rounds, examine doors/windows, and report irregularities.
• Monitor CCTV and fire alarm systems; respond to alarms and grant/deny access.
