Job summary

Dothan Houston County Library seeks a Library Security Specialist to help ensure a safe, welcoming environment for patrons and staff. You will monitor activities, educate patrons on library policies, and respond to incidents with calm, firm judgment.

The role requires the ability to work nights, weekends, and varying weather conditions, with CPR, First Aid, and AED training required within 90 days of hire. Strong communication and integrity are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; preferred 6 months to 2 years in security, EMS, safety, law enforcement, education, or customer service.
• Must be 21+, pass criminal background check, and obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED within 90 days of employment.
• No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.

Responsibilities

• Move through public areas to assess safety and security in all weather.
• Greet patrons, explain rules, and refer inquiries to staff.
• Interact with the public in a respectful manner and prepare incident reports.
