Job summary

Cleveland Public Library is seeking a Safety and Protective Services Officer to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for patrons and staff. This role requires patrolling facilities, enforcing conduct, and coordinating with emergency responders to protect people and library assets.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, relevant security experience, Ohio Peace Officer Training certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in security roles preferred, especially in urban or public settings.
• Ohio Peace Officer Training or equivalent certification required/preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol library properties to maintain order and safety.
• Serve as primary security responder and direct emergency personnel as needed.
• Enforce Patron Code of Conduct and report incidents.
• Secure buildings after hours and monitor safety equipment.
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
