Job summary

American University in Washington, DC is seeking a Library Operations Specialist (part-time) to support daily library operations, supervise student staff, and deliver excellent customer service to the AU community.

This role requires availability across several shifts up to 27 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, and reports to the Manager, Library Operations and Facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• 1 - 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily library operations and supervise 20+ student staff.
• Ensure service points are open and adequately staffed during 90+ hours weekly.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist with basic catalog searches.
• Monitor safety and security, report incidents to Public Safety, and handle maintenance requests.
• Coordinate event setups and support other departments as needed.
