Job summary

Oglethorpe University’s Philip Weltner Library is seeking a Library Assistant (FT) to support circulation, public services, and daily operations. This role includes opening/closing duties and assisting patrons with accounts, reserves, and technology.

You’ll supervise student assistants, help with outreach and programming, and contribute to improving workflows within the library system. Evening and some Saturdays are required; compensation starts at $17.50/hr with benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; MLIS in progress preferred.
• Evening and some Saturday availability is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Experience with social media and Canva preferred.
• Experience with an ILS, preferably WorldShare.

Responsibilities

• Assist with building operations, including opening/closing procedures.
• Provide customer service for circulation, accounts, reserves, and technology.
• Supervise student assistants during assigned shifts.
• Support outreach and library programming activities.
• Help develop and streamline library procedures and workflows.
• Collect statistics from library systems and vendors to identify trends.
• Participate in campus events to build relationships.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
