Job summary

Oglethorpe University is seeking an Evening Library Assistant PT to join the Philip Weltner Library in Atlanta, GA. The role supports circulation, public services, and daily operations during an evening schedule (20 hours/week).

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree, with preference for MLIS studies, and demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Supervisory experience and familiarity with social media/Canva/ILS tools are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; preferred MLIS or Master of Archival Studies enrollment.
• Available to work evenings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and solve complex issues.
• Excellent organizational, detail orientation, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building operations, including opening and closing procedures.
• Provide customer service to patrons on circulation policies, accounts, reserves, and tech.
• Supervise student assistants during shifts.
• Assist with outreach, programming, and library events.
• Contribute to developing and refining library procedures and workflows.
• Collect usage statistics from library systems to support assessment and identify trends.
• Participate in campus events to build relationships.
• Other duties as assigned.
