Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library is seeking a Materials Services Supervisor at the Gahanna Branch. The full-time, exempt position oversees materials and customer service operations, with evening and weekend shifts, and a starting pay range of $48,588.80 to $65,249.60 annually, commensurate with experience.

The role emphasizes staff development, policy interpretation, and coordinating library technologies, with opportunities to support a robust benefits package and retirement plan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
• 3–5 years of experience in libraries, customer service or similar field; supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Leads staff in completing essential duties of library operations in the areas of materials and customer service.
• Hiring, orienting, coaching, managing and evaluating the assigned team.
• Assists with problem solving at local and system level.
• Assumes responsibility for the operation of the location in the absence of a manager.
• Trains staff to perform job duties and tasks including applying and interpreting policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Trains staff on use and troubleshooting of library technologies and equipment.
• Organizes and schedules team and its activities. Identifies opportunities for synergy, efficiency and integration.
• Supervises volunteers as assigned.
• Serves as support to staff in resolving customer disputes.
• Provides direct customer service. Maintains personal skills to ensure quality of service.
• Performs additional duties as assigned including serving on task forces, committees, etc.
