Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library is seeking a Materials Services Associate to ensure efficient processing and distribution of library materials, including organizing and shelving and providing basic customer assistance.

You will sort, shelf, and pull materials, meet accuracy and speed standards, assist customers, and support programs while maintaining a neat, inviting location. Schedule: Mon-Fri 2:00-6:00pm; Sun 1:00-5:00pm (1-in-5).

Qualifications

• Must pass alphabetic and numeric sorting and filing test.
• Ability to operate library technology including PC, email, software programs (Windows/Microsoft Office).
• Effective written and verbal communication required.
• Reliable transportation to report to assignments as required.

Responsibilities

• Process and sort materials accurately, including returns, reservations, and new items.
• Sort and shelf materials; maintain shelves and assist with processing and distribution.
• Meet accuracy and speed standards for shelving.
• Greet customers, answer basic questions, locate materials, and assist with self‑service technology.
• Maintain the collection by cleaning, withdrawing, and sorting materials and handling donations.
• Keep location neat, orderly, and inviting; perform other clerical duties as assigned.
