Job summary

Skokie Public Library is seeking an Information Technology Assistant Manager (full-time) to lead and maintain our wired and wireless network, servers, and cloud services in Skokie, Illinois. You will supervise IT staff, design secure infrastructure, and collaborate with staff and vendors to plan projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 3+ years of enterprise network experience; CCNA/CCNP are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or equivalent
• 3+ years enterprise network/infrastructure experience
• 1+ year supervisory or lead experience

Responsibilities

• Design, administer, and optimize wired and wireless network infrastructure
• Manage and support firewalls, VPNs, and authentication systems
• Administer Unix/Linux and Windows server environments, virtualization, and storage
• Monitor system performance, capacity, security, and availability; lead upgrades
• Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Entra ID
• Lead technology projects with staff, vendors, and stakeholders
• Respond to complex infrastructure incidents and root-cause analysis
• Administer backup and disaster recovery systems
• Supervise IT staff and provide technical guidance
• Assist with planning, budgeting, and daily IT operations
• Serve as senior technical resource when needed
