Job summary

Skokie Public Library is seeking an Information Technology Assistant Manager to lead network, server, and virtualization environments. You will guide a small IT team, design and maintain core infrastructure, and collaborate with staff and vendors on major projects.

The role involves supervising IT Specialists, ensuring security, backup, and disaster recovery readiness, and stepping in for the IT Manager when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/IT or related field.
• 3+ years supporting enterprise network and infrastructure environments.
• At least 1 year in a supervisory/lead role.

Responsibilities

• Design, administer, and optimize wired and wireless network infrastructure.
• Manage firewalls, security controls, VPNs, and authentication systems.
• Administer Unix/Linux and Windows server environments and virtualization.
• Monitor performance, capacity, security, and availability; lead upgrades.
• Support Microsoft 365, AD, Entra ID, and cloud services.
• Lead technology projects from planning to implementation.
• Respond to incidents; perform root-cause analysis and fix.
• Administer backup and disaster recovery preparations.
• Supervise and mentor IT Specialist staff.
• Assist with planning, budgeting, and technology standards.
