Job summary

The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is hiring a Grounds Maintenance Worker for the Nashville Public Library system. The role performs landscape maintenance, lawn mowing, and grounds care at library branches, operating hand tools, power tools, and a range of landscaping equipment.

Physical work includes lifting up to 50 pounds, extreme temperatures, and exposure to fuels and irritants.

Qualifications

• Eighth grade education and one year of verifiable experience in semi-skilled labor or grounds maintenance.
• For this position substitution will not be considered.

Responsibilities

• Plant, water, fertilize, weed, trim and maintain flower beds and trees within Library landscaped areas.
• Operate weed-eaters, push mavers and pressure washer; maintain equipment.
• Mow and trim turf areas; keep landscaped areas free of trash.
• May work on irrigation systems and snow/ice removal from driveways and sidewalks.
• Establish turf grass sites, including seeding and mulching, and apply weed killers/insecticides.
• May perform custodial duties during off-season or as assigned.
