Job summary

Pierce County Library is hiring a Customer Experience Assistant for Bonney Lake and Sumner locations. The role focuses on delivering high-quality customer service, assisting with library accounts, tech help, and readers’ advisory services.

The position supports operations across assigned locations and requires flexibility for a rotating schedule. The role includes assisting with circulation, basic reference, and technology support, with opportunities to contribute to program support and

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years public library/customer service experience or equivalent.
• Ability to pass criminal background screening prior to hire.
• Possession of valid Washington State driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality customer-focused services to diverse patrons.
• Assist customers in person, by phone, and online.
• Explain and apply library policies to resolve concerns and complaints.
• Manage circulation tasks (check in/out, holds, registrations, cash handling).
• Provide basic reference and readers’ advisory assistance.
• Assist customers with technology and access to databases and digital resources.
• Help locate materials and promote library services.
• Maintain displays and balance deposits; assist with weekly reports.
