Job summary

Franklin County Library System is seeking a Part-Time Library Assistant to welcome and assist patrons of all ages. You will help with checking materials in and out, guiding users in catalogs and digital tools, and creating program displays.

Responsibilities include assisting with reader's advisory, registrations, and payments, while maintaining a tidy circulation area and supporting Youth and Adult Librarians in program delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college courses and public-facing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of library procedures, materials, and practices; ability to assist with reader's advisory.
• Strong customer service and communication skills; ability to work with diverse patrons.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons at the circulation desk with checking materials in and out, library cards, and payments.
• Help patrons locate materials, navigate catalogs, and use library equipment.
• Prepare program materials and displays; deliver programs under supervision of Youth and Adult Librarians.
• Maintain neat circulation desk and assist with general clerical tasks.
