San José State University seeks a Library Community Service Officer to protect patrons, staff, collections, and facilities at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. The officer reports to the Lead Library Community Service Officer and supports a safe, welcoming environment.
Responsibilities include enforcing library policies, responding to alarms, monitoring security systems, and assisting visitors and staff. Training is provided by the University Police Department after appointment.
The Library Community Service Officer reports to and receives supervision from the Lead Library Community Service Officer. The Library Community Service Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the patrons, staff, collections, and facilities of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library.
After appointment, Community Service Officers must successfully complete the appropriate training program designed by the University Police Department.
A valid driver’s license is required for this position. Out-of-state candidates selected for the position must obtain a California driver’s license within 10 days of hire in accordance with California Department of Motor Vehicles regulations. After hire, the employee must successfully complete the Defensive Driver Training Program provided by the State of California for California State University campuses.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,618/month
Hiring Range: $3,680/month - $5,310/month
