San José State University is seeking a Housing Community Service Officer to support public safety for University Housing Services. The role involves patrolling housing buildings and grounds, assisting residents, staff, and visitors, and coordinating with University Police.
The officer will complete required training after appointment, monitor CCTV and fire safety systems, and respond to alarms and emergencies. Schedule options include day and night shifts with CSU benefits included.
The Housing Community Service Officer reports to the Police Lieutenant and receives direction from the Lead Housing Community Service Officer. The Housing Community Service Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the residents, guests, staff, and facilities of University Housing Services. The Housing Community Service Officer assists with providing public safety services for the SJSU residence community that houses approximately 4,200 students, staff and families in two apartment buildings and four residence halls.
After appointment, Housing Community Service Officers must successfully complete the appropriate training program designed by the University Police Department.
A valid driver's license is required for this position. Out-of-state candidates selected for the position must obtain a State of California driver's license within 10 days of hire in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles regulations.
Once hired the employee must successfully complete the Defensive Driver Training Program provided by the State of California for California State University campuses.

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $4,659/month (Step 16)
CSU Salary Range: $3,461/month - $5,043/month
